text fragment of the Coptic
scriptures from approx 200-300AD. The Coptics lived
in ancient
The Coptics also used Koine
Greek as their main administrative language in this time and the coptic texts were translated from Koine Greek, thus a good test of the meaning behind
existing Greek texts at the time.
These Coptic texts pre-date the Nicene Creed ( 325
& 381 AD ) and when translated to English ( using well established
knowledge of Coptic grammar resources ) that we find that John 1:1c translates
to "a god".
