The question here
is raised whether such charismatic gifts as existed in the early Church
are in operation today. Paul writes earlier
in 1 Corinthians ( makes a comment
on the use of satanic inspired gifts about the middle to late second century:
“In his unbridled ambition to reach the top laid himself open to the
adversary, was filled with spiritual excitement and suddenly fell into a kind
of trance and unnatural ecstasy. He raved, and began to chatter and talk
nonsense, prophesying in a way that conflicted with the practice of the
Church handed down generation by generation from the beginning… Some were
annoyed, regarding him as possessed, a demoniac in the grip of a spirit of
error.” Eusebius continues to record a following: “… women whom he filled
with the sham spirit, so that they chattered crazily.” And continuing a bit
further: “But the pseudo-prophet speaks in a state of unnatural ecstasy… He
begins with voluntary ignorance and ends in involuntary psychosis.” (Pages

● What did the apostle
Paul mean in saying, “When that which
is complete arrives, that which is partial
will be done away with”?
These words
appear in a setting that highlights the surpassing way of love. We read: “Love
never fails. But whether there are gifts of prophesying, they will be done away
with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge,
it will be done away with. For we have partial knowledge and we prophesy
partially; but when that which is complete arrives, that which is partial will
be done away with. When I was a babe, I used to speak as a babe, to think as a
babe, to reason as a babe; but now that I have become a man, I have done away
with the traits of a babe. For at present we see in hazy outline by means of a
metal mirror, but then it will be face to face. At present I know partially,
but then I shall know accurately even as I am accurately known.”—1 Cor. 13:8-12. 1Cor 13:8 NAS

Thus
Paul showed that the miraculous gifts of prophesying, knowledge and speaking in
tongues were not permanent. They were to cease. And cease they did. Evidently these gifts
were only imparted in the presence of one or more of the apostles directly
chosen by Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:1, 4, 14; 8:9-20; 10:44-46;

with the death of these apostles, impartation of miraculous gifts passed away.
SBT—Note --The Book of Acts –IS ACTS OF THE
APOSTLES----Not acts of others.
In view of the temporary
nature of the miraculous gifts, Paul encouraged Christians at Corinth to pursue
the permanent and surpassing way of love and not to consider those miraculous
gifts as a Christian’s greatest attainment.
Though Paul himself was
endowed with miraculous gifts to a superior degree, he recognized that his
knowledge was but partial. (1 Cor. 13:1, 2;
14:18) (1 Cor 13:2-
He would have to wait until the arrival of “that which is complete” in
order to understand spiritual things fully. In his own case this was not going
to happen during his lifetime on earth.
Upon attaining his heavenly reward, however, he would eventually see the
fulfillment of all Bible prophecy and come to a complete knowledge of
Jehovah’s will and purpose revealed in the Bible. Accordingly, the words “when
that which is complete arrives” must relate to the time when the prophecies of
the Bible as well as God’s will and purpose are fully understood.
1 Cor 14:18
I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all;
The arrival of “that
which is complete” is not synonymous with gaining the heavenly reward. There is
no indication in Scripture that Jesus Christ reveals everything to members of
his bride immediately upon their entering heaven. Jesus himself had to wait for
his Father to make known certain aspects of His purpose. When on earth, Jesus
said of the day and hour for the execution of divine vengeance: “Concerning
that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son,
but the Father.” (Mark 13:32) 13:32 Similarly,
those becoming immortal spirit creatures in the heavens do not attain complete
knowledge until God’s due time for revealing the full scope of his purpose.
This is also true of God’s devoted servants on earth.
We today are living in the time when
“that which is complete” is due to arrive. The physical facts in fulfillment of
Bible prophecy confirm that Jesus Christ received kingly authority over the
world of mankind in 1914 C.E. (Rev. 6:1-8) Rev.+6%3A1-8

With that event the “sacred secret”
or “mystery” of God was “brought to a finish,” in the sense that this event
removed the ‘mysterious’ aspect about this kingdom. (Rev. 10:7; 10:7 compare Matthew 13:11;

that is, the mystery which has
been hidden from the past
ages and generations, but
has now been manifested to His saints,
1 Tim 3:16
By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.
From that time onward God’s people
have been experiencing a continued increase in spiritual knowledge and in
understanding prophecy. This is in harmony with Daniel 12:4: 12:4 “As for you, O Daniel, make secret the words and
seal up the book, until the time of the end. Many will rove about [in the
book], and the true knowledge will become abundant.” Accordingly, “that which
is complete” refers to the full understanding of God’s purpose as
revealed in the Bible. This
being a time for such increased understanding of God’s Word and the fulfillment
of its prophecies, that “which is complete” must be at hand.—WT QFR:S

Favoritism
An Impartial God—A Message
for All
PARAGRAPH 5 Such developments are in keeping
with God’s ways; favoritism is alien to him. After the apostle Peter was helped
by Jehovah to adjust his view of people of the nations, he appreciatively
noted: “For a certainty I perceive that God is not partial, but in every nation
the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.” (Acts
10:34, 35; Psalm 145:9 145:9 ) 10:34-
10:35
When the apostle Paul,
formerly a persecutor of Christians, declared that God’s “will is that all
sorts of men should be saved,” he reaffirmed that God is free from bias.
(1 Timothy 2:4) 2:4
The Creator’s
impartiality is seen in that the Kingdom hope is open to people of any gender,
race, nationality, or language.
6 This international expansion was
foretold centuries earlier. According to Daniel’s prophecy, “there were given
[to Jesus] rulership and dignity and kingdom, that
the peoples, national groups and languages should all serve even him.” (Daniel
7:14) 7:14
The fact that this magazine is
published in 151 languages and distributed worldwide, enabling you to read
about Jehovah’s Kingdom, reflects the fulfillment of that Bible prophecy.
7 The Bible foretold a time when
people of diverse languages would hear its life-giving message. Describing how
true worship would attract many, Zechariah prophesied: “It will be in those
days that ten men out of all the languages of
the nations will take hold, yes, they will actually take hold of
the skirt of a man who is a Jew [spirit-anointed Christian, part of “the Israel
of God”], saying: ‘We will go with you people, for we have heard that God is
with you people.’” (Zechariah
Reaching People of All Sorts
8 Today, people have become
increasingly mobile. Globalization has opened a new era of migration. Droves of
people from war zones and economically depressed areas have moved to more
stable places, seeking a materially secure way of life. In many lands, an
influx of immigrants and refugees has resulted in the formation of
foreign-speaking enclaves. For instance, in
9 Do we as Christian ministers view
the presence of such people who speak different languages as an impediment to
our ministry? Not at all! Rather, we see this as a welcome expansion of our
ministerial territory—‘fields white for harvesting.’ (John 4:35) We endeavor to
care for people who are conscious of their spiritual need, regardless of their
nationality or language. (Matthew 5:3) As a result, each year a growing number
of people of ‘every tongue’ are becoming disciples of
Christ. (Revelation 14:6) For example, as of August 2004, the preaching
work in
10 Indeed, Jesus’ command to “make
disciples of people of all the nations” is being carried
out! (Matthew 28:19) Eagerly embracing that commission, Jehovah’s Witnesses are
active in 235 lands, distributing literature in more than 400 languages. While
Jehovah’s organization provides the material needed to reach the people, the
individual Kingdom publisher must take the initiative to convey the Bible’s
message to “people of all sorts” in the language they can best understand.
(John 1:7) This united effort enables millions of people of various language
groups to benefit from the good news. (Romans 10:14, 15) Yes, each one of
us plays a vital role!
Rising to the Challenge
11 Today, many Kingdom publishers
would like to learn another language, but they cannot depend on or expect
miraculous gifts of God’s spirit. (1 Corinthians 13:8) Learning a new
language is a major undertaking. Even those who already speak a second language
may have to adjust their thinking and approach in order to make the Bible’s
message appealing to people who speak that language but have different
backgrounds and cultures. Then, too, new immigrants are often shy and timid; to
understand their way of thinking takes hard work.
12 Nonetheless, the holy
spirit is still operative among Jehovah’s servants in their efforts to
help people who speak other languages. (Luke 11:13) Rather than imparting
miraculous linguistic abilities, the spirit can heighten our desire to
communicate with people who do not speak our language. (Psalm 143:10) Preaching
or teaching the Bible’s message to people in a language they are not familiar
with may reach their mind. However, in order to touch the heart of our
listeners, it is often better to use their mother tongue—the language that
speaks to their deepest aspirations, motives, and hopes.—Luke 24:32.
13 Many Kingdom publishers have taken
up the ministry in a foreign-language field when they observe the fine response
to Bible truth. Others feel invigorated when their service becomes more
challenging and interesting. “Many of those who come from
14 To have a meaningful share in this
work, however, we need determination and self-sacrifice. (Psalm 110:3) For
instance, a number of Japanese Witness families have given up comfortable homes
in large cities and have moved to remote areas to help groups of Chinese
immigrants understand the Bible. On the west coast of the
15 Can you have a share in this
multilingual activity? Why not start by noting which foreign languages are
commonly spoken in your territory? Then you might carry some tracts or
brochures in those languages. The booklet Good News for People
of All Nations, released in 2004, has already been
instrumental in spreading the Kingdom hope by its simple, positive message in
numerous languages.—See the article “Good News for People of All Nations,” on
page 32.
“Loving the Alien Resident”
16 Whether we learn another language
or not, we can all help with the spiritual education of foreigners in our area.
Jehovah instructed his people to “love the alien resident.” (Deuteronomy
10:18, 19) For example, in one large city in
17 Loving overseers commend qualified
and skilled brothers and sisters who want to move to assist other language
groups. Such experienced Bible teachers may be missed locally, but the
overseers feel as did the elders in Lystra and Iconium. Those elders did not hold Timothy back from
traveling with Paul, even though Timothy was an asset to their own
congregations. (Acts 16:1-4) In addition, those who take the lead in the
preaching work are not deterred by the different mentality, customs, or manners
of foreigners. Instead, they embrace the diversity and seek ways to cultivate
good relations for the sake of the good news.—1 Corinthians
18 As prophesied, the good news is
being preached in “all the languages of the nations.” Wonderful potential for
increase still exists in foreign-language fields. Thousands of resourceful
publishers have entered this “large door that leads to activity.”
(1 Corinthians 16:9) Yet, more is needed in order to cultivate such
territories, as the next article will show.

Why No
Miracles Today? WTP-gm 71-86
Sometimes the question is raised:
‘Why are there no miracles of the Bible kind today?’ The answer is that
miracles served their purpose back then, but today God expects us to live by
faith.—Habakkuk 2:2-4; Hebrews
In the days of Moses, miracles
occurred to establish Moses’ credentials. They showed that Jehovah was using
him and also that the Law covenant was truly of divine origin and that the
Israelites were henceforth God’s chosen people.—Exodus 4:1-9, 30, 31;
Deuteronomy 4:33, 34.
In the first century, miracles
helped to establish the credentials of Jesus and, after him, of the young
Christian congregation. They helped to demonstrate that Jesus was the promised
Messiah, that after his death fleshly Israel was replaced as God’s special
people by the Christian congregation, and thus that the Law of Moses was no
longer binding.—Acts 19:11-20; Hebrews 2:3, 4.
After the days of the apostles,
the time for miracles was past. The apostle Paul explained: “Whether there are
gifts of prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues,
they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with. For we
have partial knowledge and we prophesy partially; but when that which is
complete arrives, that which is partial will be done away
with.”—1 Corinthians 13:8-10.
Today, we have the complete
Bible, which includes all the revelations and counsel of God. We have the
fulfillment of prophecy, and we have an advanced understanding of God’s
purposes. Hence, there is no more need for miracles. Nevertheless, the same
spirit of God that made the miracles possible still exists and produces results
that give equally strong evidence of divine power. We shall see more of this in
a future chapter.
[Picture on

Many view the reliability of the laws of nature, such as the fact that
the sun rises every morning, as proof that miracles cannot happen

Ka3—1973----CD Rom Search Satan’s Miracles
58 Hence, those powerful works or miracles, those signs
and portents and unrighteous deceptions are for a purpose that is selfish and
not for the glory and exaltation of Jehovah God. These manifestations of
Satan’s operation and activity were produced after the death of Christ’s
apostles. Those apostles did indeed work miracles, signs and portents, because
they had God’s spirit through Christ. Those apostles had the power and
authority to impart to baptized believers the spirit with its various gifts of
the spirit for the doing of miraculous things, such as speaking with foreign
languages, prophecies, interpretations, healings, and so forth. At the death of
Christ’s apostles, the imparting of the spirit accompanied by such miraculous
gifts ceased. Likewise, when those who had been thus gifted through the
apostles died, not later than in the second century C.E., those miraculous
gifts ceased to exist, and no longer were such things an evidence to prove who are true servants of God and who make up the true Christian
congregation. (Acts 8:14-18; 1 Corinthians 13:8) Hence, the seeming
display of such “gifts” after that would be, not of God, but of Satan.
59 So, then, let the clergy-ridden churches of
Christendom point to all the powerful works, miracles, signs and portents that
they want to in behalf of their clergy down through the centuries. Let them
point to the grandiose position of the clergy in this world, the high esteem
and reverence that have been paid to the clergy, their grand, eye-dazzling regalia,
their high-sounding titles, their magnificent church buildings and cathedrals,
their impressive church rituals, their transubstantiation of bread and wine in
the “Mass,” their superior education, their standing and influence with the
political State and the military, yet all those things and the effects of those
things upon the so-called “laity” prove that the self-exalting clergy of
Christendom did not originate with God and are not his ministers. Satan, who
transforms himself into an “angel of light,” moves his earthly ministers of
religion to “keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness.”
(2 Corinthians 11:14, 15) True Christian ministers of Jehovah God prove
themselves to be his appointed, approved ministers, not by such external things,
but
by God’s written Word of truth.
62 God does not directly send an “operation of error”
to these deceived ones. He lets it go to them, in order to prove what it is
that they want and also because this is really what they want. This is what the
apostle Paul pointed out to his fellow missionary Timothy in a final letter to
him. Paul explained why he wanted Timothy to preach God’s Word urgently in all
seasons in the Christian congregation. Paul said: “For there will be a period
of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord
with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have
their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas
they will be turned aside to false stories.” (2 Timothy 4:2-4) By means of
the inspired Word of God a person can protect himself against an “operation of
error” during the presence of the “lawless one.” But by letting Satan carry on
an “operation of error” and by thus letting this operation go to the professed
Christians, Jehovah God puts them to the proof as to whether they “accept the
love of the truth” or love the lie
Satan and His demons do not grow old
a die—only Jehovah can
kill them.So whatever healing to the human body they
could do for the people that lived in the Nations that surrounded Israel they
can still do that healing today or whatever other magical acts they did---
There is no scripture evidence to
support that Jehovah has stooped them. Even Jesus was accused of doing His
miracles with power that came from Satan—Matt 12-24

rebuked him, saying, "Be R21
quiet, and come out of him!" 26 Throwing him into
convulsions, the unclean spirit cried out with a loud voice and came out of
him. 27 They were all amazed, R22
so that they debated among themselves, saying, "What is this? A new
teaching with authority! He commands
even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him." 28 Immediately
the news about Him spread everywhere into all the surrounding district of
Galilee. |

2Co 11:4 For if someone comes along and preaches
another Jesus than the one we preached, or should you receive a different
spirit from the one you received or a different gospel from the one you

Rev. 16:13, 14: “I saw three unclean inspired
expressions that looked like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon [Satan
the Devil; Rev. 12:9] and out of the mouth of the wild beast and out of the
mouth of the false prophet. They are, in fact, expressions inspired by demons
and perform signs, and they go forth to the kings of the entire inhabited
earth, to gather them together to the war of the great day of God the
Almighty.”
