                                                       Luke Chapter 1-1-4

1 Since many others have already taken on the job of putting together a statement of the facts of the things we believe

2 as they were given to us by those who were eyewitnesses (Luke1-2001.htm)

from the earliest [times] and by caretakers of the message,

3 it seemed good for me to trace everything accurately from the start, then write it down (for) you in the order that it happened, mighty Theophilus, 4 so you can feel confident about the things you’ve been taught by word of mouth.

Acts 9-22

22 --But Saul’s power kept growing and he reaally confused the Jews who lived in Damascus,

because he gave them logical proofs that [Jesus] is the Anointed One.

But Saul kept increasing in strength and confounding the Jews who lived at Damascus by proving that this Jesus is the Christ.

it to the "doctors of the church".

From that concept come such terms as "doctor of theology" ("doctors of theology"), and so on.—Check out

 1 Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

 2 In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.

 3 But to me it is a very small thing that I may be examined by you, or by any human court; in fact, I do not even examine myself. 4 For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord. 5 Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God.

7 For who regards you as superior?

What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

BCC->Commentaryon4:6 Not-to-go-beyond-what-is-written  ...
Not to go beyond what is written--
is in the Greek literally, "Not beyond what is written." "These words must be a sort of quotation, or in any case a standing expression," associated with the preaching of Paul and all the apostles. It has the effect of a universal proverb among Christians, "well known to the Corinthians, so that Paul could assume the words to be clear." F23 Russell F23  declared the meaning to be: "The things which are written ... no special text, but the teaching of the scriptures as a whole, which no leader, however gifted, may supersede." "This was a catch-cry familiar to Paul and his readers directing attention to the need for conformity to scripture." There is no need to multiply scholarly support of the usual view of this place; no other explanation is tenable. From BCC -> Commentary on 4:6
